Background

The MTU Genomic Sequencing Lab was originally supported the MI-SAPPHIRE Grant.

This funding was focused on increasing capacity for sequencing and monitoring SARS-CoV2 and future and emerging public health threats.

This project was started with MI-SAPPHIRE funds to assess the disease burden in ticks in the

Keweenaw peninsula. Locals in the Keweenaw peninsula drop off ticks they have found at local

collection boxes. Ticks are then checked for multiple tick borne illnesses.
