Where are the SOAR classes held?-
All of our classes will be held at Lower Middle School
What are the hours of the classes?-
All of our classes run from 8:00-11:30am Monday through Friday. *The only exception are our credit courses (Geometry, Algebra II) which run from 8:00 a.m. -1:30 p.m. (JAVA runs 8 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.)
Should my child bring a snack?
-Yes! Your child should bring a healthy snack to class each day. Your child's teacher will let you know if there are any allergy restrictions in the classroom that you need to be aware of.
My child has an allergy or medical condition-who do I need to inform?
-Please email us at soar@mtsd.us so that we have this information on file. One of our SOAR nurses, will then be in contact with you if needed.
My child has an epi pen and/or medication they must take during the day. What should I do?
- On the first day of your child's class please visit the nurses office to drop off your child's epi pen and/or medication and speak with our nurse; Pam Schrum . In addition, please email us at soar@mtsd.us so that we have this information on file.
I would like a refund for my class, what do I need to do?
- Please be advised....once you have signed up for a course there will be no refunds if you cancel your registration. Refunds will only be given if a class is cancelled due to enrollment numbers not meeting 10 students.
**We will ONLY be able to refund for the amount for the class and NOT the convenience fee of either 4.5% for credit card or $1.75 for online check**
My child does not attend Montgomery Townships School District, can they still attend your program?
We are happy that you have decided to enroll your child with us this summer!
**Please know that we do not take Out of District Students for any Credit Courses or Kindergarten Readiness Courses. Students in these classes must be current MTSD students or enrolled for Kindergarten at Orchard Hill in the Fall**

How do the credit math classes work? Can my child sign up for this?
- Please follow this link for our FAQ Credit Course information. Students will be asked on the first day if they are taking the class for advancement or preview. We will make note of their response for grading purposes.
Can my middle school child enroll in a high school credit course or preview course?

-Java Credit Course is only for students currently in 9-11th grade (no 8th graders)
-Geometry, Algebra II, Creative Writing, Precalculus Preview, Chemistry Preview and Math & Data analysis for Freshmen Science (Physics/IPEL) have specific requirements and are only for students entering grades 9-11th in the fall. *please read brochure for specific requiremnts*
For credit classes once my child is registered are they guaranteed a spot in the class?
- When you register on payschools you will be holding your spot in the order in which you signed up. This is NOT a guaranteed enrollment. Grades will be reviewed beginning June 1st and you will be contacted with the results of this review. If you have been accepted into the summer class you will be emailed a link to register and pay within 5 days of receiving your acceptance. Your spot will be released after 5 days.
When are final exams and profiency tests for Algebra II and Geometry??
- Final exams for Geometry and Algebra will be conducted on the last day of class (July 29th) along with the honors proficiency exam for those who qualify and are interested. There is no NJSLA or NJGPA testing for classes taken in the summer.
How many days can I miss if I am enrolled in a credit course?
- For a full credit class (Geometry and Algebra II) students can only miss 2 days of class before they lose credit regardless of whether or not you have a doctors note, as the number of hours a child must attend for credit is determind by NJ.
-For a 1/2 Credit course (Java or Creative Writing Seminar) students can only miss 1 day of class before they lose credit regardless of whether or not you have a doctors note, as the number of hours a child must attend for credit is determind by NJ.
Is there transportation for students to and from home?
- No. We do not provide transportation to and from home.
Do you offer and extended day option for students past 11:30am?
-SOAR does not offer an extended day option for students past 11:30am however, we do provide transportation for $15/week to transport your child to the Township Rec-N-Crew program.
