All students are expected to read, or be read to, each night.
There will not be official homework sent home to be completed and returned to school. Time spent with your family or friends with unstructured play is too important to pass up. If your child is having difficulty finding ways to keep occupied without the help of a screen or a device it may hint that your child needs more practice with these situations.
Parents: Do you remember the last time you got stuck waiting in a doctor's office or the DMV without having anything to pass the time? What did you do? Did you read? Did you make a to-do list for later? Did you strike up conversation with someone else who was waiting? Try to think back to those days before smartphones and all the imaginative things you used to do to pass the time and expect your child to find their own way out of their boredom.
