This year, we will explore the areas of :
Unit 1: Interpretation Book Clubs
Reading fiction deeply and sharing ideas in groups to build new theories about how stories work and the themes that authors examine.
Unit 2: Literary Analysis
Reading closely and writing literary essays to develop logical reasoning skills, as well as learn to cite quotes and other evidence to support a thesis.
Unit 3: Nonfiction Reading
Read and review the essential skills of reading Nonfiction texts, as well as reading Nonfiction texts closely and critically to analyze and interpret.
Unit 4: Narrative Writing
Write personal narrative stories, using vivid vocabulary and first person narration to tell a compelling story inspired by true experiences.
Unit 5: Fantasy Book Clubs (Apr-Jun)
Reading fantasy fiction deeply and critically, discussing with groups to analyze the text.
