8TH GRADE | FALL & SPRING SEMESTER
In one semester, you’ll explore your creativity through sculpture + other artistic media. Most importantly, how 3 dimensional art is created and planned through 2 dimensional practices. You’ll learn about famous artists; old + new, how art impacts culture, skills + techniques to be a successful artist, + how to think creatively about the design process. You’re given the freedom to design your projects in a manner that reflects your individual personality + interests.
CLASS ASSIGNMENTS
Studio assignments: Non traditional sculptures from found media, mobiles, relief carving.
Clay Projects: Texture stamp/roller, pinch pot, coil, slab construction, and pottery wheel.

Critique + Reflections
GRADING
Each studio project will be graded by rubric. Rubrics will be used for student self-assessment as well as instructor assessment. Do now activities, critiques, reflections, and a weekly evaluation will make up the remainder of your grade.
Each category is weighted as follows:
PROJECTS - 65%
SKETCHBOOK / DO NOW - 20%
CRITIQUE / WEEKLY EVALUATION - 15%
