Dance is an incredibly important art form that allows students to discover themselves in ways no other subject is able to explore while engaging their creativity, forms of communication, and expression. Similar to the other arts disciplines, dance can be found as an important part of any culture across the globe. It has the capability of bringing people together from different backgrounds through our common pursuit of expression through movement.

Changing for dance follows Health and Physical Education: Specific attire is required to ensure safety and ease of movement during physical activities.
Athletic Bottoms: Athletic leggings/pants, shorts, or sweatpants that provide ease of movement are appropriate for school or the gym. Compression shorts are not appropriate.
Athletic Tops: T-shirts or athletic tops that provide ease of movement and do not expose undergarments and body parts.
Athletic sneakers: Proper athletic shoes to ensure safety during activities in the gym and outdoors.

Changing for dance follows Health and Physical Education
Unified Dance
Each course is a semester long class and will culminate with a 7-12th grade celebration of their work and artistry during a dance performance that will be catered to the comfort level and interests of the students involved. The classes explore various dance techniques and creative practices. This optional but highly encouraged showcase is Thursday, January 22nd.
Each movement project will be graded by rubric. Rubrics will be used for student self-assessment as well as instructor assessment. Journal reflections and active engagement & preparedness will make up the remainder of your grade.
Journal responses can be hand written or typed on device
Each category is weighted as follows:
Movement Projects - 60%
Journal Reflections - 20%
Active Engagement & Preparedness - 20%
