CONCERT ATTIRE:
Boys and girls should wear clean clothes that are appropriate for the occasion. Here are some examples:
Boys: dress pants with button-down shirt or polo shirt
Girls: dress pants with a nice top, or a dress, or a skirt* with a nice top. (*Skirts and dresses must be knee-length or longer.)
Children should NOT wear: dirty clothes, ripped clothes, jeans, sweatshirts, sweatpants, sportswear, shorts, inappropriate clothes, or clothes that are too warm.
AVOID
Students are not allowed to use scented items prior to being on stage for rehearsals or performances. This includes perfume, cologne, body spray, scented hand sanitizer and scented lotion. Under the hot lights, those scents become quite strong and can make others feel ill. We don't want anyone getting sick on stage!
If you have any questions about concert attire, please call me at 262.238.4649.
CONCERT ETIQUETTE
Wilson students are taught proper concert manners during their concert preparation unit. These are the same behavior standards one is expected to follow when attending an event at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. The wording is simplified to be accessible to students, but the meaning of each of the four standard concert rules is explained in class. Please help set a good example for students by upholding the rules.
*"Keep kids quiet and in their seats." [Fire code requires aisles be kept clear.]
*"Put your phone to sleep."
*"Stay seated 'til the end of the show."
*"Flash photography? No! No! No!" [Please use your camera's no-flash option.]
CONCERT ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Your child's attendance at his or her concert is expected. If you anticipate your child's absence, please contact Mrs. Krumenauer as soon as possible. Students who are absent from the concert may be asked to complete an alternate writing assignment. The concerts are generally 15-25 minutes in length. If a child is ill the day of the concert and misses school, parents should keep the child home from the concert as well. We always have understudies for special parts in case the need arises.
Here's a link to an article explaining the importance of concert attendance.
