Mount Salem Christian Secondary School is a non-inspected independent private high school. This means we are not required to follow the provincial curriculum standards or other Ministry of Education requirements. Because we operate outside of government inspection, we do not have the authority to grant official credits toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
To ensure our students still receive a recognized diploma, we partner with an external accredited organization (Nimbus) that reviews and authenticates our courses and instruction. Through this partnership, students at Mount Salem Christian Secondary School can earn an official OSSD while benefiting from the unique, Christ-centered education and community that defines our school.
What do you need to graduate at MSCS?
High school at MSCS is structured to align with the graduation requirements of Ontario’s public education system. This alignment ensures that students can easily transfer into or out of MSCS without disruption to their studies.
To graduate from MSCS, students must complete 30 credits, 40 hours of community service, and the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) - the same key requirements as the public system.
What cources do we offer at MSCS?
We offer all the required core courses found in Ontario’s curriculum. Our programs integrate a Biblical worldview while still meeting the provincial curriculum expectations. In addition, all students take a year-long Bible course, which encourages spiritual growth and helps students see how faith connects with learning and life.
While elective options are currently limited due to our size, we continue to expand our offerings as we grow. Recently, we have strengthened our woodshop and technology programs, providing students with more hands-on learning opportunities.
MSCS partners with Nimbus Christian Education, a virtual Christian school, to ensure our students can earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). In Grade 12, students complete six credits through Nimbus, allowing them to graduate with an officially recognized OSSD while still being part of our Christ-centered community.
