"A treaty Law School is a great idea. It explores why we have treaties and why they are important to our future. Evelyn Poitras, who coordinates the School, has a strong commitment to living the spirit and intent of the treaties. She is working with elders, political leaders, law keepers, academics and interested community members in the School’s formation and implementation. The idea of a Treaty Law School will fill an important gap in our educational environment."
— John Borrows, Loveland Chair in Indigenous Law, University of Toronto
The four day Treaty Law School is directed at treaty law advocates with a national focus to include a history of treaties and treaty-making with the Crown. The Treaty Law School provides a forum for treaty talks based on sovereignty. It also initiates research and preservation for Treaty Leadership and governance archives.
This is a hybrid event with in-person and online options.
