Educating students in practice-based professions often presents challenges not experienced in other disciplines. Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality and simulation strategies have created many opportunities for innovation and change in teaching for practice-based professions. This conference is for educators in post-secondary institutions or clinical/practicum settings who work with practice-based professions to share best practices, ideas and research.
We have sponsored this conference every 2nd year. This is our 3rd biannual offering of the conference.
The live sessions occured May 22, 2025 in Calgary Alberta. We had an exciting day planned with two plenary speakers- experts in AI and clinical simulation respectively, and three concurrent sessions of 20 presenters and some posters. The concurrent sessions were in three streams: artificial intelligence (AI), innovation & AI, and simulation. The day will end with some displayers and a wine and cheese reception.
The virtual sessions will be available asynchronously between June 2-Jun 16, 2025
Certificates for attendance will be issued following the conference for the in-person, and individually after viewing each virtual session.
Mount Royal University’s Faculty of Health, Community and Education (HCE) incorporates a variety of degrees and programs aimed at preparing students for success in mainly practice-based professions. All of our programs have some form of practicum or experiential learning. Examples include social work, child and youth studies, nursing, athletic therapy, midwifery, education and many others.
Our conference is offered biyearly and focuses on issues experienced by those teaching or learning in practice-based professions. This may include development of curricula, use of high impact learning strategies, adaptation of technology, simulation or other innovations.
