Taylor Swift is a Lover of “ketchup, and seemingly ranch” a Swift fan posted on September 24th. Somehow, just like everything that mentions Taylor Swift, this tweet instantaneously became a part of pop culture. Not just Swift fans, but some brands became Masterminds and took advantage of the timely hot topic. Brands created social media posts and limited edition products based around this Taylor Swift meme. Four brands’ made my top four as the companies with the best “ketchup and seemingly ranch” post.
What’s that smell? It’s your ketchup and seemingly ranch armpits, silly! The deodorant company keeping you Clean, Native, posted to their Instagram joking about two condiment-scented deodorants: ketchup and seemingly ranch. Native’s Instagram account averages near 300 likes and 30 comments a post, but their Swiftie post received near 3000 likes and 115 comments! While I prefer a Lavender Haze, ketchup deodorant is the funniest thing ever and earns fourth in my ranking.
Would you Dress your Pop Tart in ranch? Gross. That is disgusting. However, Pop-Tarts will tease you to try the flavour with their imagined seemingly ranch Pop Tart! The company made a joke flavour on their Instagram. Just imagine how this Pop-Tart would taste. That’s why this post gets This Love from me.
Guess what a ranch sauce company produced for this trend? More ranch, but with a Change! Primal Kitchen Foods put a new Message in a Bottle and printed 50 labels for their limited edition “seemingly ranch” bottles. Accompanied by friendship bracelet, a staple amongst Swiftiess, these 50 bottles were sold on the company’s website. While producing this on such a time crunch is impressive, I have to assume the “seemingly ranch” bottles were Nothing New and just their ranch sauce bottled differently. Earning Primal Kitchen Foods a silver trophy.
Can I ask you a Question…? Is this a hoax? The picture is cute and looks homey, but compared to every other post we’ve seen, this is a Picture to Burn. There is no Bejeweled graphics or descriptive text to educate the audience. The likely reason for this trend's success is how it instantaneously communicates the jokes to the target audiences. Ragu averages 60 likes a post, and this post received 60 likes. Good sauce, bad Instagram post. I’m sorry Ragu, You’re On Your Own, Kid.
Dear Reader, If you followed the trend as it happened, you’ll know that Heinz started this whole event. Following the ketchup and seemingly ranch tweet, Heinz made 100 bottles of limited edition “ketchup and seemingly ranch” sauce to be given away on the Heinz Instagram. Heinz’ Style and beloved Red sauce giveaway made pop culture headlines. The timely post made a huge impression, and is likely what inspired other brands to participate. Heinz won The Great War of ketchup and seemingly ranch posts by taking the perfect opportunity to advertise their ketchup and going beyond social media to make headlines.
