I am an Assistant Professor in the department of education at Mount Royal University. Through my teaching, service, and scholarship I seek to create the conditions to (re)story education as a journey towards agency, wellness, wonder, and expansive awareness of oneself-in-the-world. I am currently exploring Indigenous land based learning, storytelling, sustainability, wellness, and inclusive ways of being in the contexts of learning, teaching, and leadership in k-12 and post secondary education.
I hold a PhD in curriculum and learning, a Masters of Education in Learning Science, a Bachelor of Education, and a Bachelor of Arts.
My wife Melanie and I and our four children live in Mohkinstsis near the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers. I am a member of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government and my ancestors trace back to the historic Métis community in the Red River Valley and to Briitish and Mennoite communities. Preceding my current appointment I was an Assistant Professor at Ambrose University.
I am an Alberta Certified Teacher and have taught Kindergarten, Grade 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9. Prior to embarking on my PhD journey I was a school system leader in Rocky View Schools.
