I am a proud member of the Métis Nation of Alberta. I honour my ancestry through approaching life (both its challenges and triumphs) in a good way. My mom has been an incredible trailblazer for our family in seeking out our history and ancestry, and has involved us in many incredible opportunities to connect. We have had the joys of dancing, as seen below, as well as attended sundances (a couple of which I had the great honour of being a tree girl). I am grateful for the learning and knowledge I have gained thus far in relation to my heritage, and look forward to continued learning and discovery. As an educator, my heritage will be integral to my practice; when appropriate, I wish to invigorate the thoughts of my students, to allow the beat of the drum to beat in their hearts as it does mine, to acquaint them with the rich aromas of sage and sweetgrass, and to bundle them in the love and relation that my peoples have to offer. I believe that Indigenous wisdom and ways of knowing should be respected and embraced, Indigenous traditions and practices should be integrated, Indigenous learners should be supported, and Indigenous perspectives and identities should be honored. As educators, we must foster relationships with students built on honour, respect, and understanding.
One of my deepest and most intrinsically rewarding passions is singing and songwriting, I find it to be an incredible outlet creatively, and often allows me to put my emotions into words. Music in general has had a huge impact on me as an individual, as it was a big part of my upbringing and I have heavily relied on music at many different times as a supportive and uplifting device.
I have always had a passion for the outdoors and adventure, it has brought me the utmost joy and has allowed me to experience some truly beautiful things. You can often find me outside hiking, or just spending time connecting with nature. One of my most formative experiences was a program I was a part of in Junior high called Outdoor Pursuits, in which we participated in a multitude of outdoor activities and excursions, the most notable of which was tackling the Juan De Fuca Marine Trail. I hope to continue exploring outdoor opportunities within Alberta, but also globally. As an HPED student, my experience and passion for the outdoors will pour into my classroom, and I look forward to being active with my students and encouraging them to have fun in a variety of environments.

Volleyball is one of my biggest passions, to which I have dedicated 7 years of my life. I believe competitive Volleyball to be the most formative experience in my life as it taught me the core values of teamwork, work ethic, and the importance of positivity. I have had the privilege of being the captain of 4 teams, and coaching 2, which has allowed me to gain many transferable skills, such as leadership, initiative and compassion. As an educator, I believe the values and skills I have gained through my volleyball experience will be invaluable to my teaching practice.
