The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) has developed the Dimensions charter to initiate a post-secondary transformation to increase equity, diversity and inclusion to drive cultural changes within research. The charter is jointly supported by all three federal funding agencies and will be a component of all of their grant applications. Mount Royal University has signed the charter and there is an expectation that all researchers consider equity, diversity and inclusion in their research personnel and work to reduce barriers to participation, especially those experienced by underrepresented or disadvantaged groups.
Note: While diversity in research participants is important, the charter seeks to increase diversity in the post-secondary community of individuals conducting research.
