We are pleased to welcome Jared Tailfeathers as our keynote speaker.
Jared is a multidisciplinary artist based in Calgary and across Treaty 7 territory. Since 2015, his work has focused on Indigenous arts and culture, including his time with the Calgary Public Library’s Indigenous Services team, where he built relationships with artists, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Indigenous-led organizations.
He has developed and delivered Treaty 7–specific training for a wide range of organizations, from corporate and arts institutions to community groups, and continues to work with municipalities to support the recognition and protection of culturally important sites.
Jared has contributed to numerous arts organizations and festivals, and has held leadership roles in artist collectives and grassroots initiatives. His work reflects a strong commitment to collaboration, community engagement, and supporting Indigenous arts and culture.
He is currently working toward publishing his Blackfoot Territory research book, Traditional Methods of Making, and is involved in ongoing projects including the RiverWalk West initiative.
The CURE keynote session, hosted by Dr. Carolyn Willekes, features Chloe Villamor and Artem Stadnichenko, founders of the Boozy Lectures series. This popular initiative transforms bars and pubs across Calgary into spaces for engaging, accessible talks, where subject-matter experts share ideas in a relaxed setting. These free community events have built a strong following by making academic conversations approachable and relevant. Join us to hear the story behind the series and discover how it has become such a standout success.
