Dr. Kristin Briney - California Institute of Technology

Kristin Briney, PhD MLS is the Biology & Biological Engineering Librarian at the California Institute of Technology and author of the books “Data Management for Researchers” and “Managing Data for Patron Privacy” (forthcoming). Her research focuses on research data management, institutional research data policy, and patron privacy vis-a-vis library data handling. She is an advocate for consistent file naming and adoption of the date standard ISO 8601, and likes to spend her free time making data visualizations out of yarn and fiber.

Kayla is the Indigenous Programs and services librarian at the Xwi7xwa Library at UBC, and is the program manager librarian for the Indigitization program.

Dr. Matthew Lucas - Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council

Matthew Lucas joined the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) in September 2015 as the Executive Director, Corporate Strategy and Performance, and has a background in science, technology and innovation policy. Prior to SSHRC, Matthew worked at Industry Canada where he held different positions, including Senior Policy Advisor to the Science, Technology and Innovation Council Secretariat, and the Departmental Advisor to the Minister of State for Science and Technology. Matthew received his PhD from the University of Toronto.

Nick Rochlin - University of British Columbia

Nick Rochlin is the Research Data Management Specialist in UBC’s Advanced Research Computing on the Okanagan campus, where he focuses on assisting researchers in accessing digital research infrastructure (DRI), as well as providing training on many aspects of RDM. He is active in the Portage Network of RDM professionals, co-chairing the Training Expert Group, and a member of the FRDR Discovery Redesign Working Group. He is also a member of the Humanities and Social Sciences national team in the Compute Canada Federation, and is on its leadership committee in the role of Lead for Training.
