The LF was pretty insane with the Bombers, but this year topped them all. With an AVG over .400, over 120 hits, and pure domination of the other categories landed him the best player of Season 92. Too bad he and his fellow San Diego pitchers played like 7-year-olds in a rec-baseball game when it mattered, as the Bombers lost 16-3 in the second round of the league playoffs to the Ontario Lighting. Linares went 0 for 5 in that game.

As much as I would like to congratulate these two pitchers for these efforts, I cannot. Neither team won their league title, so it isn't like they had a huge affect on their teams. And the decision to make two pitchers of the year is stupider than the decision for the Portland Cobras to trade away future HOF Lewis Hermann to the Bombers after only a single season of play.

He didn't pitch a lot and I would consider him more of a utility reliever rather than a closer with saves, but still was lights out. The lights must've burned out, just like the then-called "Panthers" got burned in the playoffs by the Horned Frogs 32-2 in one of the first-round league playoff games.

As the "Avocados from Mexico" jingle played during each at-bat when he was at home, the focus displayed by the rookie was immense, as he smashed and mashed 89 RBI's in his rookie campaign. However, despite a league title, they managed to get one game shy of the WS and lose in heartbreak fashion. One word - Baker.
