We love working with faculty and staff to craft hands-on learning experiences customized to your curriculum and learning goals. While student mentoring is our top priority, we are also committed to helping every member of the MHC community grow as a maker.
EQUIPMENT
Fimbel Lab is open to everyone in the MHC community, including faculty and staff. Just sign our values and waiver, then schedule a training session for whatever tools you wish to use. We also encourage you to sign up for an optional Ability Badge so you can get stamped off after training.
Please note that our availability for training varies throughout the semester due to course load.
GUESTS
Faculty and staff may bring one guest to Fimbel Lab. The guest must sign a waiver and always be accompanied by the MHC member. If parents are bringing a child as a guest, they will need to sign a child waiver for them.
DROP-IN SESSIONS
Our weekly hour-long introductory training sessions on laser cutting or sewing are a great place to start. No registration is required for these events, which are posted on our Workshop/Events page and the MHC main events calendar.
SCHEDULE A TRAINING
To learn about our other equipment or for a more in-depth training, schedule a training session with the professional staff by filling out a Training Request.
3D PRINTERS AND LASER CUTTERS
Fimbel Lab has three laser cutters and eleven 3D printers. We require reservations to use this equipment after 5 pm on weekdays or on weekends.
If you would like to use a laser cutter or 3D printer during the day (9-5), please contact us at fimbellab@mtholyoke.edu to check availability.
ROOMS
Fimbel has two classrooms, a kitchen, and a documentation room, which are available for reservations. The Kitchen and Documentation rooms may be reserved any time Fimbel is open. The classrooms are available to reserve from 5 pm to 10 pm.
If you would like to use a classroom during the day (9-5), please contact us at fimbellab@mtholyoke.edu to check availability.

BOOK A WORKSHOP/EVENT
We frequently run workshops for departments and student organizations. If you are interested in scheduling an event or a workshop with us, please fill out our Event/Class Engagement request form to get started.
Take a look at our Workshop Gallery to see examples of workshops we've run in the past. Most workshops run for two hours, and we typically charge $50 for student organizations and $100 for departments. However, please note that this can vary due to material prices, the number of participants, and a project's complexity.
