Professional Staff
Fimbel has a number of professional staff members who are experienced makers with diverse backgrounds. We are here to train users on the tools around the lab, consult on projects, both academic and personal, work with faculty to develop hands-on learning experiences, and mentor you on your maker journey! Take a look at our ProStaff Profiles below:
She/Her
Fimbel Coordinator &
Lab Technician
Rachel has a background in sculpture and printmaking and has worked in hands-on learning environments for the last fifteen years. She is always excited to play with new materials and learn about new tools, but she particularly likes woodworking, welding, and sewing. Outside of work, she is a founding member of the MakeFixHack community maker space in Easthampton and can often be found there in her free time.
At Fimbel, Rachel oversees the budget and many of the lab's day-to-day operations. She is involved with student staff management and generally assists with student projects, training, and workshops.
He/Him
Design Mentor &
Technical Lead
Kris Camp is the Makerspace Technical Lead and Design Mentor. He joined the MHC community at the end of 2018 as part of the Makerspace expansion and move to the newly renovated Prospect location. With a background in Product Design, Architectural Design, Custom Millwork, and more, Kris has a broad range of knowledge and skill sets that assist him in helping the Makerspace community develop, explore, and refine projects of all sorts. Kris supervises and trains maker space users and helps maintain a safe and well-functioning facility.
He/Him
Technical Project
Administrator
Luke brings an eclectic studio art background to Fimbel Lab, where he helps students and staff with physical fabrication and 3D printing. On any given day he is equally likely to be operating a computer, soldering iron, table saw, or laser cutter. He has been using Photoshop professionally since before your parents met. Luke's drawings, paintings, and small sculptures have been exhibited in Boston and New York; his animated films have been shown in festivals and theaters worldwide. He also plays guitar in a funk / soul band.
She/They
Design Mentor &
Technical Specialist
Mo is an experimental Physicist by training, with research spanning the physics of brain activity, ultra-thin sheet buckling, and the stability of sand (feel free to ask them about it!) Outside of academia, she works with metalcore bands in the northeast on functional costume and stage prop design and crafting. Mo is especially excited about exploring ways to combine circuitry, 3D prints, and fiber arts as well as using Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) techniques for fabrication.
In Fimbel Lab, Mo is involved in documentation, student staff management, and teaching the Fundamentals of Maker Culture Class hosted in the lab every spring.
Student Staff
Fimbel Lab employs thirteen student workers who are invaluable to our day-to-day operations. The student staff run the lab on evenings and weekends and are involved in most other aspects of Fimbel's daily life, from running workshops and maintaining equipment to assisting peers with academic projects.
Estefania Baca
Fimbel Student Technician
Icarus Blum
Fimbel Lead Student Technician
Icarus is a double major in Physics and Theater and does independent research and costuming. They really enjoy learning and experimenting with many crafting techniques, which works well for the cosplay they do as he can incorporate 3D prints, sewing, laser cutting, and more into a single design. At Fimbel, you can find him often at the 3D printers or sewing station, especially if she has a specific design in mind. They always love talking to people about projects and equipment in the space, so feel free to say hi!

Natsumi Kiso
(she/her) '26
Fimbel Student Technician
Natsumi is a double major in architectural studies and philosophy, originally from Tokyo, Japan. She is the co-founder of Precious Plastic MHC, which is a hands-on plastic-recycling student organization at MHC. At Fimbel, she enjoys working in the woodshop or using the laser cutter to make cool things!
Beth Mobley
Fimbel Student Technician
Beth is a junior double majoring in Geology and Civil Engineering. Her hobbies include knitting, crocheting, climbing, circus arts, and going for walks when it's snowy out. At Fimbel, you might find her at the sewing machine, making something fun with the laser cutter or 3D printer, or occasionally making something with stained glass. She loves a chance to chat, especially if you have a cool fabric, yarn, or a rock to show her!

Atqiya Zaima
(She/her)
Fimbel Consultant
( Currently doing off-campus study)
Atqiya Zaima is a sophomore studying physics at Mount Holyoke College. Besides being a consultant at Fimbel, she is also a research assistant at the AidalaLab, a Calculus TA, a part of the e-board of the Model UN club and the Society of Physics Students. In her free time, she loves to explore new hobbies and activities and travel to new places. At Fimbel, you will likely spot her by the 3D printer trying to figure out how to change her design so it wouldn't take a decade to print.
