Evidence shows that resilience, the ability to recover quickly from challenges, is a strong indicator of a learner’s success in a given field.
After the video, take a minute or so to reflect on what resonated with you.
I appreciated that the video mentioned that we all have resilience and that we can practice and strengthen it. I often feel like I simply wasn't born with certain skills, but this video is a reminder that this isn't the case.
I've long struggled with resilience in tech. The longer it takes to get a project working the more discouraged I get. However, this class has revealed to me that I' much more capable than I think I am. I've learned how to persevere through doubt and have a workable final project, treating them like I do my writing projects.
I have really enjoyed this class, it's been so nice to put the focus back on the process as opposed to the final product. I just wish the class was longer.
Resilience is important to have faith in yourself. During this class, I have learned how we can look backwards and reflect on ourself. Also how we can motivate us to move forward on our own tech journey. Because it is getting harder and complicated & we need to learn how to embrace those qualities.
Resilience is hard. It's messy. It's often framed as glorious moments and triumphing over failures with a weathered smile. Not as failing over and over and over, asking for help, checking in with friends & classmates, loving/forgiving yourself, or cryin gin the bathroom after sending an insanely long email to your professor about why you feel like you failed and need to step back. But that's resilience. This class taught me that. It's about the process & present.
Self-resilience is important in self-improving as when encounter difficulties how can we solve it. For this class, I encountered like computer science debugging or such projectes required debugging process, for self-resilience. We should take small steps and ask TA when needed.
I think self-resilince also plays an important role in building confidence. By developing skills to overcome the challenges with fast resilience, you can practice more and eventually feel comfortable/confident.
Working mostly in humanities I am not as familiar with concrete roadblocks like bugs in code. This class has definitely reminded me that the process is just as important as the final product. I notice myself bringing patience and intentional planning to more of my classes, even the ones in my comfort zone.
This morning on my way coming to here, I think about giving up multiple times. That you make me believe even thought is is hard now, I can strategically think of how to move on. I think that what resilience is about (the result as a combination/practice of other skills -- self-efficacy, ...) and thank you and this class to help me build all of these tools.
Always pause and look back to see how far you have come. Celebrate your achievements, praise yourself. You are loved and you deserve it!
