Our Family and Consumer Science (FCS) Kitchen Program offers students exciting, hands-on opportunities to learn essential life skills in cooking, nutrition, and food science. In our fully equipped kitchen classroom, students explore everything from basic meal preparation to advanced culinary techniques, all while developing teamwork, problem-solving, and time management skills.
Thanks to a recent grant, our program now features a state-of-the-art freeze dryer, allowing students to experiment with modern food preservation methods. This technology allows students to explore how freeze-drying affects food quality, nutrition, and storage — connecting classroom learning with real-world applications in food science and sustainability.
Through engaging projects and creative cooking labs, students learn to plan balanced meals, practice food safety, and make informed choices about health and nutrition. Whether preparing for a future in culinary arts, nutrition, or simply gaining skills for everyday life, our FCS Kitchen Program inspires confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for food and family.
Our Family and Consumer Science (FCS) program is a fun and interactive classroom where students learn real-world culinary and business skills. We’re growing our program to operate like a small business—we are willing to take custom food orders and provide meal prep and catering services for school and community events. While we can’t produce items in mass quantities without additional assistance, we take pride in offering high-quality, handcrafted foods made with care. Through these experiences, students gain valuable hands-on practice in cooking, entrepreneurship, and teamwork.
