Topic Overview

In this topic, we are going to explore different approaches to protesting injustice and inequality, through the lens of the African American Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 60s.  To do this, we will examine the history of slavery in America and other places, and systems of institutionalised racism that have allowed, encouraged, and sometimes mandated discrimination, xenophobia, cruelty, and deeply rooted sociocultural and political divisions.
