Risk Assessments
A Risk Assessment Tool (RAT) provides a quick mechanism to assess risk and can lead to more informed descison making. Using the RAT, risk elements are assigned scores which are then complied into a total risk score and then can be used to evaluate overall risk. Understanding the risk and how to manage it is an important component of safely and effectively working in the field.
Tailgate Safety Form
Before beginning work in the field crews will complete a tailgate safety session where hazards and risk assessments for the day will be discussed and signed off on. Volunteers will keep signed forms for their records. Printed copies of the Tailgate Safety form are available at the Mt. Adams Ranger Station. Lead Volunteer Rangers should plan to pick up a form from the station or print a copy of the PDF provided below.
