Beginning Band

General Information

Date/Time

• Band will start September 22nd

• 8:15 - 8:55am MTWTF (everyday)

• Each student should bring their instrument to band by Monday, September 29th

Transportation

• Please look on elink using your home address and a middle school grade (from Transportation website, put in address and enter grades 7 or 8) 

• Students will ride the middle school bus in their area or be dropped off at Totem at 8:10am (the band room is on the 7th street side near the gym entrance)

• After band, students will be bussed to their elementary school in time for breakfast

Instruments

• Please see the document below for more information on how to rent/buy an instrument for band, which book you need to buy and what supplies you need specifically for your instrument

• Students need to purchase the book called "Standard of Excellence"  Book 1 (Red Book) for their instrument.  

• Note for Clarinets only: please buy a box of 2.5 reeds to start on (I recommend Rico, Royal or Vandoren brands.  For plastic reeds, Légère is the only brand that should be considered.)

Concerts

• Please put in these 3 evening concerts into your calendar 

Fall Concert - November 19th

Winter Concert - February 25th

Spring concert - May 27th

• Concerts start at 7pm in the Totem Middle School Gym.  Students should arrive at 6:30pm in nice clothes (as if attending a wedding or a funeral.)  Concerts are free and open to the public
