First Grade is a Foundational Year (attitude, confidence, excitement for learning, success, and so much exciting growth as readers/writers/mathematicians...)
Growth Mindset (productive struggle, mistakes are learning opportunities)
Teaching is an Art (provide the right learning opportunities, next steps, support, right amount of correction, productive and supports to build student confidence and success.
Create A Learning Classroom: Culture of empathy and support, Child Centered, Choices, Inspiration, Grow Curiosity, Creativity and Skills, students are highly engaged active learners, and having Fun and Flexible Seating Options.
Be A Reflective Teacher (Always learning and growing, gathering and implementing the best resources to support student learning...)
Parents are Important Partners - students need and want their support, involvement and praise.

My Goals

Meeting Individual Needs (School RTI, Grade Level Team Skill Groups, First grade team planning and sharing, my evaluation focus this year)
Students Involved in their learning (see the target, goal setting, self-monitoring, reflecting on learning, learn to celebrate small successes...)
Differentiation (Plan for extra help/enrichment, work at their level, W.I.N. time, choice Center time, built in centers differentiation, using assessments to prevent, plan, adjust, individualized next steps, conferencing and goal setting with students, guided reading groups and skill groups in both reading and math.
Blended Learning (adaptive technology, assigned technology, class set of iPad/Educational Apps, chromebooks: website subscriptions, google classroom, google docs, shared documents, whole class computer lessons, publishing...)
