In cognizance to the current trend in Process and Factory Automation technology which
involves complex production processes, known as Industry 4.0, an automation system that involves
self-optimization, self-configuration, self-diagnostics and cloud computing, offering the Bachelor
of Science in Industrial Automation and Mechatronics becomes timely.
The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Automation and Mechatronics program, being multi-
disciplinary, aims to prepare the students to be multi-skilled technologists who are familiar with
electronics, electrical, computer, robotics, mechanical, and fluid power technology.
The program is the first and only in the Philippines since its implementation in 2007 and
has already attained the Institute’s vision on internationalization and being at par with ASEAN
universities. It produces students who are consistently selected as delegates of the Philippine Team
to represent in the World Skill–ASEAN Competition in Mechatronics, an event held every two
years. In the recently concluded World Skill-ASEAN competition held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
(2016), the MSU-IIT Mechatronics Team was the Bronze Medalist.
