Write On! focuses on the value of collaborative writing through discussion and practice via workshops to support the following goals:
To provide college educational experiences and writing support for incarcerated individuals
To promote meaningful engagement between MSU students and the people behind prison walls.
This program provides training for undergraduate students to become supportive reader-responders for incarcerated writers and to become more reflective practitioners of writing. Through writing groups, workshops, and other creative activities, participants engage in meaningful, transformational dialogue while working toward their respective career, creative, and educational goals.
Throughout its programming, Write On! emphasizes community, equity, inclusivity, and social justice and change. These pillars are critical to the work of supporting people from underserved communities while preparing college students as future leaders.
