Write On! supports and enacts Michigan State University's Strategic Plan 

Write On! aims to support writers within and outside of institutions of incarceration in the Greater Lansing area. Through writing workshops and other opportunities for multimodal creation, the program cultivates deeper understandings of and connections with one another, as well as practical skills in writing and critical thinking.

Write On! is rooted in the philosophy of Ubuntu: an ancient African word meaning 'humanity to others.’ By resisting discrimination against vulnerable peoples and instead forwarding their gifts, Write On! expresses Ubuntu, which is often described as “'I am what I am because of who we all are” (https://abuntu.com).
