Video on the water cycle
Large water cycle diagram
Water cycle picture cards and vocabulary labels
Paper and colored pencils for diagrams
Begin this activity with a short, engaging video/song on the water cycle. Water Cycle Song
Then, also show a large diagram of the water cycle and discuss each stage.
Then have a turn and talk. Ask students where they have seen water change forms in real life.
Split my students into small groups. Each group will get a set of water cycle pictures with vocabulary words.
The groups will then have to put the cards into the correct order of the stages of the water cycle. Matching the vocab and pictures.
Once they are done, allow each of the groups to explain their sequence using the vocabulary words we just learned.
Students draw their own water cycle diagram with labels. I would also have them give a brief 1-2 sentence explanation of each stage using what they learned.
