Reading 📖
Activity 1
First, students will roll the die to see which row they can read from. Students will read a word of their choice out loud, and once they read it or work through it correctly, they get to highlight the word. By the end of the activity, students will be able to see how many words they have highlighted and been able to work through successfully. This activity is very easy to incorporate translanguaging into, because students are able to continuously build on their prior vowel knowledge to work through the words. This lesson can also be adapted to fit many different levels of proficiency.
Activity 2
As you go through each page, point to the pictures and elicit the seasons and talk about what Silly Willy is doing, for example:
Teacher: (pointing at the picture on page 4) Look at Silly Willy! What is he doing?
Students: He’s going for a walk!
Teacher: Yes, that’s right! And how is the weather?
Students: It’s sunny!
Teacher: Yes, good job! And what season do you think it is?
Students: Spring?
Teacher: Ok, let’s check (reading on page 5) “One spring day, Silly Willy went outside. It was warm and sunny. There were lots of flowers and rabbits were playing in the fields.”. Good job, it is spring!
Get the students really involved in the story by asking lots of questions about the weather during different months and activities they do (and don’t do) in their country.
Listening 👂
Activity 1
Activity 2
In this activity, students will need to listen closely to directions to complete the picture. To make the lesson slightly more accessible, the teacher could include a visual aspect to give directions. For example, instead of telling students to trace the path, the teacher could trace the path themselves and show students, urging them to follow along. Translanguaging could be included more easily this way as well, with the students having the ability to see the path, hear the word path, and have knowledge of the word in their main language as well.

Morning Routine Charades
Get together the morning routines flashcards. Divide the class into 2 teams. One student comes to the front of the class and acts out the flashcard you show to him/her. The first person to shout out the correct answer wins a point for his/her team.
Morning Routine Conversation
Have students get into partners again and talk about their morning routines. They can talk about a school morning routine or a weekend morning routine and discuss the actions that they do each morning.
This activity is for kindergarten multilingual learners. Students discuss with a partner during the activity, then the class has a conversation about it after.
