Learners set and refine long-term learning goals in their learning vision statements (LVS). Over the semester, students evaluate whether their learning experiences align with these goals and whether, in light of new experiences, the learner's goals have changed. The LVS ties the many disparate reflections the learner creates over the course of the semester(s) together. Like other reflective practices, the LVS may be spoken, performed, written, drawn, photographed, etc., so long as the work gives meaningful direction to future learning.
Task 1: Read the learning vision statement linked below or browse the LVS posted to other learners' Digication portfolios.
Task 2: Reread your answers to the Bailey Five Questions (TOL 2). Notice if any of your answers have changed, and update if needed. Notice the themes, goals, hopes, and feelings reflected in your Bailey Five Questions.
Task 3: Draft your own LVS informed by your work in Task 2. Your LVS can be written, drawn, danced, performed, recorded, photographed, etc. The only requirement is that it identify your learning goals for your time as a member of the Bailey community. Post your LVS to your portfolio in the Humanities Commons. If you already have an LVS posted to Digication, revise your existing LVS to reflect your changing learning identity, and post it to your Humanities Commons portfolio.
"My learning vision statement is created uniquely to demonstrate potential career paths I would want to pursue in my future career."
"In retrospect, my personal struggles have been ever-present. The beginning of my time at MSU was quite challenging, and brought many of these struggles to light. Though I have already sunk two years into my wellness journey, I hope that by the time I graduate I will have an even better understanding of myself. Improving academically will likely raise my self-esteem, and determining a career path will hopefully provide some stability for me. While I work on those aspects, I plan to engage in my communities and make friends, something that has seemingly eluded me for a few years."

"I want to become the best pediatrician I can be. Someone who uses her ability for the better. A person that travels the world and helps others. Some of my academic goals are to study abroad and to make the dean’s list. A personal goal of mine is to open my own practice possibly overseas to help patients in need."

"My personal goals for this year are courage and enthusiasm. Those aren’t so different from my professional goals, either—I hope to use those values to inspire me to finish some existing projects and launch a couple of new ones. Most of all, I look forward to doing all of this in good company with other Bailey Scholars."
