This is a whole class positive incentive. The class can earn up to three numbers per class. At the end of class time, the class can earn up to three tokens in the jar. The class works toward filling the jar for a class chosen reward.
This year, you may hear your child mention "Whole Brain Teaching." This is a teaching movement which I am implementing in my classroom. It is a way for students to become involved in the learning process and to take charge of their learning and improvement. Some of the aspects which I am using each day are the scoreboard for whole class behavior, the improver wall for individual behavior, call outs for learning new ideas and participation, and smart cards for participation. Students and teachers can nominate individuals who have had a positive influence/impact on our classroom environment. Nominated students will receive a lucky duck to keep!
This year, you may hear your child mention the 7 Habits of a Happy Kid. This is a concept that I instill in my students and use in my classroom. It is based off of Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. It teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.
