Marion School District is committed to providing a program for identifying and meeting the diverse needs of gifted and talented students. Gifted and talented students are unique in their creative abilities, cognitive development, interests, learning styles and affective development.
We believe that gifted and talented students have special educational needs that require services and experiences not provided for in the regular instructional program. Marion School District recognizes that gifted students come from all cultures and economic backgrounds and is dedicated to providing qualitatively differented curriculum regardless of race, sex, or creed.
The Marion School District T.E.A.M. program adheres to the Arkansas Department of Education’s Gifted and Talented Rules and Regulations and recognizes their definition:
“ Gifted and Talented children and youth are those of high potential or ability whose learning characteristics and educational needs require qualitatively differentiated educational experiences and/or services. Possession of these talents and gifts, or the potential for their development, will be evidenced through an interaction of above average intellectual ability, task commitment and/or motivation, and creative ability”.
It is our purpose to recognize and seek out these individuals and provide them with qualitatively differentiated educational experiences in order for them to reach their highest potential.
