Hello, my name is Susan Markle. I will be your child's teacher this year! Second grade is a great stepping stone for your child to transition from learning to read to reading to learn. He/She will also gain a great sense of numbers, enabling him/her to get a true understanding of numbers and addition/subtraction strategies.
I am looking forward to working with you to make this a great educational experience for your child! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at markles@msd19.org., or you can call me at (618)746-4738, before or after school.
Mrs. Markle
This year marks the beginning of my 15th year of teaching. I began as a first grade teacher here at Scott Elementary. This will be my seventh year in 2nd grade. I love working with and teaching young children the basics and fundamental skills they will need to be successful in their educational journey!
I received my B.S. in Education from Eastern Illinois University. I also received my M. D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Olivette Nazarene University.
On a personal note, I grew up in the midwest; Nebraska, Minnesota, Missouri and Illinois. I have lived in this area since the 8th grade. I have 2 amazing grown children, Melissa and Matthew. I also have 2 wonderful grandsons and a step grandson!
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. I also like to unwind by coloring faith based coloring books and playing with my golden retriever, Ellie.
I believe first and foremost that children need to feel safe, secure and noticed in the classroom. I will support the students as they discover their strengths and improve their weaknesses. I will strive to create an atmosphere where children embrace their uniqueness and respect the differences of others. In my classroom children will learn to work together, encourage each other and respect each other and their adult supervisors.
