Library & Media Center
I am the Mascoutah Middle School librarian. I love to read and talk about books! I also co-sponsor the MMS Book Club/Makerspace with Mrs. Studley.

In order to support the curriculum and provide for individual research and enrichment, our library collection encompasses a wide variety of resources. Our inventory includes approximately 9,000 print volumes (fiction, non-fiction, and reference), 30 periodical titles (magazines and newspapers), nearly 1,000 audiovisual items (videotapes, DVDs, audiotapes), internet access, and eleven electronic resource databases. Digital magazines, newspapers, and e-books are available for students use via their Chromebook. All library digital resources are available remotely with a username and password for home access. Please see the Remote Access attachment for those usernames and passwords.
CIRCULATION AND OVERDUE POLICY
Regular library books (fiction and non-fiction) may be checked out for two weeks and may be renewed for an additional two weeks, provided these books have not been requested for use by another student or teacher. Current magazines and newspapers are available in digital form, to be accessed via the students' Chromebooks.
There are no fines charged on books; however, students with items over 2-weeks overdue may be placed on lunch detention. Students must reimburse the library for the cost of any lost or damaged materials. Individual overdue notices will be sent to students via classroom teachers. However, failure to receive an overdue notice does not excuse the student from returning books.
All library materials are due approximately 1 week before the last day of school. If students have outstanding library items, they may not be eligible for end-of-year celebrations such as field day and the 8th grade field trip.
