I am excited and honored to still be teaching in the Mascoutah School District since 2003. I began my teaching career as a 5th Grade Teacher at Scott Elementary near Scott Air Force Base for 17 exceptional years, then had the opportunity to grow in my educational journey and move up to Mascoutah Middle School in 2020 to become your 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher.
I look forward to this year's new expedition of learning as we travel the world the first quarter through the 5 Themes of Geography. Then we'll spend the rest of the year going back in time to investigate the events and stories of early European Explorers across the Atlantic Ocean to their impact on Native Americans and Indigenous Peoples. This shapes the people who forged our country through the turbulent times in our history from the American Revolution to the American Civil War!
I was born and raised in Illinois and have always lived within a short distance of my hometown. During the summers I enjoy traveling to experience our country's many National Parks, towns, and cities. Recently I have had the opportunity to travel on educational tours in Europe and Africa to learn first hand about the many customs and cultures that influence our world view. I have been very fortunate to have many great role models in my life that remain my constant reminders that we all have a great responsibility to make the world a better place for the generations who follow in our footsteps. I hope to pass along my lifelong love of learning to all the students I am so thankful to serve in Mascoutah Community Unit District #19.
I look forward to the many connections we will make and great things we can accomplish together this year!
