Unit 1- Introducing friends and learning expectations through the Hello Song. Learned about our singing voice to sing “Friend oh Friend” to work on boundaries, empathy and compassion as well as safe movement through the classroom.
Unit 2- Steady Beat! Introduced the musical concept of Steady Beat. Used games, songs, body percussion and hand instruments to review and demonstrate.
Unit 3- Musical opposites! We used scarves, ribbons, race cars and movement to demonstrate when we heard musical opposites in a song. Loud/quiet, fast/slow, smooth/seperated and high/low.

Unit 2- Reviewed the concept of steady beat and introduced musical notation. Student worked on symbol recognition and note values for quarter and eighth notes as well as quarter rest.
Unit 3- Reviewed musical opposites. We used scarves, ribbons, race cars and movement to demonstrate when we heard musical opposites in a song. Loud/quiet, fast/slow, smooth/seperated and high/low.
Unit 1- Reviewed quarter note (ta) eighth notes (ti-ti) and rest values. Played games like the metronome challenge, instruments like kazoos and play-along videos to encourage fluency. Introduced half notes, whole notes, dotted half notes and half and whole rests. Continued our games and activities with our new notes and rests!
Unit 2- Started rehearsing for our December concert!
