"The arts teach children that problems can have more than one solution and that questions can have more than one answer."
-Elliot W. Eisner

A standard is something we use in school as a measuring tool or a model. We use them to guide both teaching and learning. The standards address content (what you are doing) and performance (how you are doing it.) They prepare students for college, careers, and civic life. In the visual arts there are five standards that will be important to your learning. Each standard has Performance Indicators. These are ways that a student shows they are proficient, competent or skilled in the standard.
