Formed in 2024 to fill a gap in Amateur Radio Communications in the Mid-South Area. Our first mission was to provide reliable amateur radio coverage to unserved areas of Eastern Arkansas.
1. Emergency Communication – During disasters, when cell networks and the internet fail, ham radio operators provide critical communication for emergency services, relief efforts, and affected communities.
2. Public Service – Many ham operators volunteer for organizations like ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) and RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service) to assist in emergencies and public events.
3. Global Communication Without Infrastructure – Unlike cell phones or the internet, ham radio doesn’t rely on external infrastructure. Operators can communicate across the world using only their radios, antennas, and atmospheric conditions.
4. STEM Education and Experimentation – Ham radio fosters skills in electronics, physics, and engineering. It allows operators to experiment with antennas, digital modes, and radio propagation.
5. Community and International Friendship – Ham radio brings together a global community, enabling people from different cultures and backgrounds to connect and share knowledge.
6. Self-Reliance and Preparedness – It teaches self-sufficiency in communications, which can be crucial in times of crisis or off-grid situations.
7. Advancing Radio Technology – Many innovations in wireless technology, from satellite communication to digital signal processing, have been developed or tested by amateur radio operators.
