Students create and discuss visual art through cartooning and illustration topics such as book, advertising, and editorial illustration, game and animation concept art and design, and comic creation. The course emphasizes the elements and principles of design, creative thinking, problem solving, drawing skills, and use of a variety of media. Subject matter includes human, animal, and imaginative characters, design processes, and creativity. Additional topics include concept art, craft, sketchbook assignments, and art history.

Puppet building is an engaging course for students interested in learning the skills required to create a variety of puppet styles. Instruction includes hand sewing, designing, sculpting, and construction using multiple materials. Students build three-dimensional puppets and learn basic performance skills such as lip sync, eye focus, and entrances and exits to bring their creations to life.

Students experiment with paper, polymer clay, ceramic clay, wire and metal, leather, glass, wood, fiber, and plastic in the creation of jewelry pieces. Emphasis is placed on the elements and principles of design and how they translate to jewelry. Students learn proper terminology and safe use of tools and equipment and complete self-critiques for each project.
