Full Course Description:

This is the first level of theatre after sixth grade theatre. Students in this collaborative class explore all facets of theatre including playwriting, set design, acting, and directing. This course is appropriate for students interested in both onstage and backstage work.

Full Course Description:

Students must complete one level before moving to the next. In this collaborative class, students delve into all aspects of theatre including playwriting, directing, character development, and the study of technical theatre and design.

Students study vocalization for musical theatre, dance for musical theatre, and play analysis. Students selecting this course must also have a dance class in their schedule.

Students continue studying vocalization, dance, and performance skills specific to musical theatre. Enrollment requires continued participation in a dance course alongside this class.

Full Course Description:

Students focus on learning the elements of technical theatre including costumes, lighting, properties (props), publicity, scenery, and sound. Instruction emphasizes safety procedures and proper operation of theatre equipment, tools, and materials. Public performances may serve as a culmination of instructional goals. Power tools are not used in this introductory course.

Full Course Description:

Students continue developing technical theatre skills with increased responsibility in design and production. Emphasis is placed on safe operation of tools and equipment. A power tool certification process is followed in this course, and approved power tools may be used. Students may be required to attend rehearsals or performances beyond the school day.
