History

Our school was established on October 1961, named Sha-Lu Junior High School. The first principal, Mr. Chun-Lin Chang, took charge of the school establishment in the initial. In the first year of registration, there were only three classes of new students, six wooden classrooms and a part of campus field received from Sha-Lu Elementary School. The school was opened on September 1st.

Mr. Chang built an administration building and 13 new classrooms under his five years service and then left the school to Dung-Feng Junior High School on August 1966. In the same year, Mr. Shu-Dung Yen, who transferred his position from Shen-Gang Junior High School, became our second principal. Mr. Ye,n as a predecessor in Education, has plentiful experiences in school management and been the principal for many years.

On August 1968, the government extended the national education to nine years. As the result, our school followed the mandate to shift to “ Taichung County Sha-Lu Junior high School.” The school had 21 classes, approximately 1,000 students, and 7 elementary schools in our town belonged to our attendant area, then.

Mr. Yen retired on February 1973, serving for 6 years and 6 months. Mr. Ke-Ji Chen transferred his position from Da-Dau Junior High School, became our third principal. At that time, we had 35 classes, approximately 1,800 students. Meanwhile, due to the government’s policies, which are to enhance the standard of national education, increase the opportunities of accessing education, and contribute to youth people who discontinue schooling, the school is allowed to offer cram schools. Therefore, Mr. Chen concerned that there were large quantities of factories and workers in our community; then established “Sha-Lu Junior High Cram School” in 1973, enrolling 3 classes for in-service students. It has been established for 31 years till now and we still have 3 classes for the cram school. The effect is great for youth people who discontinue schooling. In addition, we also set up “Association of Sha-Lu Junior High Cram School Alumni” on February 1981, to contact with alumni and keep continue providing assistants and counseling.

Mr. Chen retired on February 1988, serving for 15 years. During the years of his service, he built 65 classrooms, a multi-functional activity center, 2 audio-visual classrooms, and a stadium. The subject classrooms include: Music Classroom(2), Cookery Classroom(1), Sewing Classroom(1), Library & Meeting Room(1), a Science Building(4 stories), an Industrial Arts Building(3 stories), 5 Offices, and 9 Toilets. Mr. Chen also set up a large deep well, solving the permanent problem of water supply for teachers and students. Simultaneously, Mr. Chen made an all-out effort to fulfill the instructional equipments and books to assist students’ learning. In 1986, in order to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the school and beautify the campus, Mr. Chen raised money for building the main and back school gates. The main school gate is large and majestic; the back school gate is beautiful and practical. The school has been taken on an entirely new look.

On February 27th 1988, Mr. Mau-Yuan Lai transferred his position from Lung-Jing Junior High School, became our fourth principal. After Mr. Lai takes up the post, with his sincere to people and his leading students with affections, our whole school keeped advanced harmoniously and grew stably. In the aspect of academic affairs, Mr. Lai made much effort on fulfilling instructional resources, contributing teaching environment, extending library equipments, and enhancing the students counseling for entering senior high schools for increasing the promotion rate. In the aspect of student affairs, besides continuously strengthened the life education and national spirit education, Mr. Lai especially undertook the reinforcement of a fully entrance control system by setting up a guardhouse and an electric gate at the back school gate. Also, for the security of academic area and stabilizing students’ learning moods, he separated the academic area and activity area by iron railings and slide iron doors.

On August, 1989, to ease the crowded campus, our school got the approval of the government to allot students to other two new schools, Bei-Shi Junior High School (8 classes) and Lu-Liao Junior High School (7classes). Before the accomplishment of two schools’ hardware construction, they both temporary used some of our classrooms to do the instruction till 1991.

On August 1989, Mr. Lei got the mandate to shift to Da-Ya Junior High School and Mr. Cheng-Jiun Jia became our fifth principal. Mr. Jia treats people friendly and has plentiful experiences in school management. He requested all the school faculty and staff to work hard together with our superior school traditional and harmonious school atmosphere to maintain our traditional reputation of “big and powerful.”

On August 1995, Mr. Tsung-Ming Yang took up the post of being our sixth principal. Mr. Yang used to serve in our school for twenty and a half years and had been our director of academic affairs for thirteen and a half years, experiencing the process of school establishment and growing. After Mr. Yang assumed office, he engaged a lot in school management with his innovative notions, abundant knowledge, long-term insight, and the spirit of inheritance from previous generations. Consequently, the progress of both learning environments and instructional equipments has long-term improvement because of many plans, such as “input new life of old building to make a new look of the campus”, “every offices is responsible for setting a complete development plan for school long-term advancement,” and “moderate using money, make the greatest outcome with little investment.” During Mr. Yang's nine years’ leading, every activities either we participate in or we held can be achieved consummately and lots of awards had been earned, such as choir competition, dance competition, art and literary competition, science exhibition, and scout camping activity. Our school gets a great reputation of these splendid achievements.

On August 2005, Mr. Yang retired and Mr. Yang-San Chi took up the post. Mr. Chi follows the exceptional tradition of our school with the faith of seeing education as the Buddha's way to provide students a confident, dignified, and great learning environment. The goals will be to force the school to become an exquisite and prominent school that “students with happiness and confidence”, that “parents feel relieved,” and that “teachers are observant.”

As time flies, our school has been established more than 40 years till now. When looking back to the initial time, we only had a few simple and crude classrooms in the crowded environment. After each successive principal’s management and the assistant of local notables, we have a great improvement. However, education is a career to develop people and it changes with each passing day. From now on, under Mr. Chi’s leading, we should work with collective wisdom and concerted efforts to devote to education work, in order to achieve the goal and idea of nine years national education.
