Requirements

The language profile requirements for Language A and Language B have to be considered when deciding on their DP Group 1 and Group 2 subjects.

Students in Language and Literature cannot go down to Language Acquisition, because they are beyond the scope of Language B.

Students who are not yet Proficient in Language B cannot move on to Language A because they don’t have the qualifications for Language A yet. 

The subjects are offered in Standard Level (SL) or Higher Level (HL). 

HL subjects cover more and expect more from the students. Some competitive university programs require certain subjects in HL to be considered. 

To attain the diploma, there should at least be 3 HL subjects. Students have the choice of which subjects to take at HL, though there may be some prerequisites for it.
