We will have a snack in our classroom every day. Snack is an important part of our day, helping children refuel their energy and stay focused for learning.
On the first of every month, please send in an individually packaged snack for the entire class to share. Since our snack time is brief, we appreciate snacks that are individually wrapped, quick, and easy for students to open independently. Thank you in advance for helping keep our class stocked with snacks throughout the year!
Our principal, Mr. Martin, announces birthdays in the lunchroom. Birthday students receive a birthday sticker and a free Scholastic book of their choice from the office. If your child has a summer birthday, we will celebrate their half birthday during December, January, or February.
In our classroom, your child will also receive a birthday book filled with cards from their classmates and will get to choose a prize from my birthday treasure bin! Please let me know a few days in advance when you would like your child to celebrate their birthday or half birthday so I can be prepared.
If you would like to send in a special birthday snack to share with the class, you are more than welcome to! Please know this is completely optional and never expected. If you choose to send something, you may simply drop it off in the school office that morning, and they will make sure it gets to our classroom.
I am flexible with birthday treats as long as they are peanut-free and do not need to be sliced or cut before serving. We will enjoy birthday treats during our regular snack time so we can continue with our daily routine.
Per our Parent Handbook, I am only able to pass out birthday invitations if there is an invitation for every student in the class (or for all of the boys or all of the girls).
Finally, please do not send birthday goodie bags or party favors for classmates. We want birthdays to be a fun and special celebration while also ensuring that families never feel pressure to provide extras or keep up with additional expectations.
