Hello and welcome!
My name is Jenny Diskin, and I’m so excited to begin my sixteenth year in education and my ninth year as a kindergarten teacher! I earned my degree from Illinois State University in May 2011. I began my teaching career with two years of preschool in Danville before spending five years teaching in Middletown Prairie’s at-risk and tuition-based preschool program. I also have a Special Education endorsement and earned my Master’s in Reading in 2015. In December, I completed my second Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Illinois, and this summer I finished the coursework needed to reach Master’s +90. After many years as both a teacher and a student, I’m excited to officially say that I’m finally done with school!
I grew up on a farm in a small town near Lexington, Illinois, about 25 minutes north of Bloomington. My husband, Cody, and I have lived in Mahomet for the past 16 years, and we feel incredibly lucky to be part of the Mahomet-Seymour community. Cody also spent many years in education, serving as a Dean of Students and Athletic Director before transitioning into the business world. His career change has given him more flexibility to be home with our family and coach our kids' sports teams, something we all enjoy and value.
We are blessed with three wonderful children: Camden, Chason, and Jayden. Camden is 12 and entering junior high. He loves fishing, riding his electric scooter, and planning for his "future farm." Chason, who just turned 10, will be in fifth grade. He enjoys playing sports, spending time with friends, and collecting sports cards. Our youngest, Jayden, is 6 and will be in first grade at MPE! She loves roller skating, riding her bike, doing arts and crafts, and keeping us all laughing. She definitely has that fun-loving third-child personality!
We also have two rescue dogs. Luda is our sweet 3½-year-old Australian Shepherd, and Missy is our timid German Shepherd/Heeler/Collie mix. Although they both love a good nap, I make sure they burn off some energy by taking them on runs with me!
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, getting in a morning workout, being outdoors, and doing seasonal crafts.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our classroom website. I can't wait for another wonderful year of learning, growing, and making memories together!
