I trained and qualified in the UK in 2001, and have taught in the UK, Qatar, Malaysia, and Singapore.
I am the MYP Coordinator, and Head of English Language and Literature at ACS Doha International School; I have also taught film, media (a bit of drama). I am passionate about how effective educators can blend the use of technology with inspiring authentic learning opportunities that enhances and transforms the educational experience of all learners.
I am a Google for Education Certified Trainer, a Flat Classroom Certified Educator, a Project-based Learning Certified Teacher, Digital Citizenship Certified Educator, Chrome, iPad and Flipped Classroom Certified, and an Apple Teacher. You may well guess - I am a (self-confessed) learning junkie, currently studying towards a Masters in Education and Integrating Technology in K-12 classrooms with UMUC in the USA. In online global projects, I have been Project Manager for the Flat Connections' Global Youth Debate Project, and I co-founded and moderated #satchatoc and #satchatME, weekly Twitter chats for educators. I have had a number of articles published in various places - see my Blog for links to these, along with more musing on teaching and learning.
I am also a qualified Yoga teacher, serial cat-adopter, wife to a wonderful art and design teacher/Star Wars geek, and proud mother of two amazing daughters.
Thanks most of all to my awesome husband and best friend, fb, for always being there to listen to me, support me and make me laugh. Follow him for all things awesome in the world of art and design teaching: @pjfairbrother.
Thank you to the leadership at ACS Doha International School; I learn something new everyday and feel honoured to work as part of such a great team. Thank you for being my champion and supporting me in my geeky endeavours.
A HUGE thanks to the team at AppsEvents @AppsEvents1 for organising these summits, and in particular, James Sayer, @JamesDSayer, for allowing me the opportunity to share my Google love at these events.
Thank you to all the wonderful educators I have met at these summits who have given me such wonderful feedback and who inspire me to keep going in my Google journey. I hope that you all learn as much from me, as I do from you.
