Other Music Opportunities

Each year, the Monadnock Valley Music Educators in the region plan and put on a music festival including guest conductors from all around New England. This festival is not required, but highly recommended. This is a Thursday afternoon, and Saturday commitment in January each year. There is no audition for this festival, and it is all nomination based. 

Please note that there is a possibility of a student being cut from the roster due to numbers in the chorus. In Ms. Drew's experience as a student and director, the choir does not usually cut many students - if any at all.

Each year, our Theater teacher, Mr. Paul Teitelman and our Band teacher, Mr. Michael Peters put on a musical production in March. Auditions for the musical typically happen in early November. After school rehearsals begin in January.

Examples of past musicals include Spongebob, Hades Town, and Rock of Ages.

Cantate is an educational non competitive choral festival for High School students held at Keene State College in October every year. This is a full day Field trip. Each High School choir sings 1-2 prepared songs and then there is a choral clinic on stage with a vocal professor from the college to offer ideas and goals for improvement. 

We get to watch the other HS choirs perform, and have their workshops on stage which can be a great experience getting to observe other choirs in the area. 

In addition, students get to see the Keene State Choirs perform, and then they get a tour of the campus with a Keene State Music student. 

In the wintertime, we will get the opportunity to travel to the elementary schools and through the halls of MRMHS to spread Holiday Cheer! We can wear costumes or other Holiday attire.

MoCo Arts is a leading arts education organization based in Keene, New Hampshire, offering classes in dance and theatre for students ages 6 months to 18+ years and multi-arts summer, vacation, and one-day camps for kids and teens ages 4 through grade 12. Since our founding in 1991, MoCo Arts has been dedicated to inspiring, educating, and empowering young people through the arts. MoCo Arts is inclusive and welcoming to all and provides up to $80,000 in tuition assistance per year.
