COMMON QUESTIONS
There are no dumb or embarrassing questions. Telling people everything about our projects is the best way to find participants.
Does any of this hurt? No! Our techniques are non-invasive, though you may be asked to undergo a quick blood draw. You may have to lie still longer than usual.
Is what I tell people about myself private? Yes, but with a few important exceptions. First, MRI and cognitive test results can be shared with your healthcare provider if you choose to do so. Your consent is required before any release of information. Second, because we care a lot about your safety, we always tell your treatment staff if we learn you’re in any danger.
What’s an MRI? Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) captures brain structure and activity. The fMRI is safe and radiation-free. We ask that you keep your head as still as possible for a scan. Earplugs will be provided to minimize any machine noise.
Where is the study located? The Mind Research Network is located in Pete and Nancy Domenici Hall on UNM’s North Campus (north of UNM Hospital and 400 yards from the Nene and Jamie Koch Comprehensive Movement Disorders Center).
