The Paradigm Project is a computationally driven art system that unifies mathematics, perception, and material logic to generate multi-plane visual structures. (Doesn’t that sound smart!?)
OK really - I will be using math and programming to customize 3D software to design structures that can be viewed from multiple viewpoints (paradigms).
These patterns are then used to build physical artworks from fused, layered glass—where different images emerge depending on how and where the viewer looks. I will be exploring ideas of identity, overlap, and narrative.
Below are some first experiments in glass:
I am using Blender software to model my project before building it in glass.
Proof in Concept
I took Tim Carey's online class and produced this. I think I fired it over a million times. - Proof in concept that I can create a fully fused glass portrait.
I took a class with Richard Parrish in the summer of 2025. This was made with a fiber paper mold, and layers of glass fired on top, and then grinding away layers to reveal the colors below.
I had broken a piece and expeimented with reparing it like the Japanese art of Kintsugi.
This piece was inspired the previous piece, I am interested in adding gold leaf to see what I can come up with.
This piece was an experiment in glass painting, I learned from a class I took at Corning with Debbie Dawson.
This piece was an experiment using glass etching and cut glass. The side lighting is intriging how it interacts with the curved cut, giving her her shape and form.
This piece was a totally different experiment done previously. I did this by creating a 3d print in plastic, making a mold, casting with stratified powdered frit, full fuse firing, and then grinding away to reveal the image of the sphere. A very different way to make an image, I will be experimenting with this more to create a portrait soon.
