It's the first week of the new school year! We will be building our classroom community and learning the procedures of our school and classroom.
Remember to join our SeeSaw site for more pictures and work to be shared. I will send home a 2nd QR code in Friday folders for families that have not joined by then.
We will be kicking off the school year establishing classroom procedures and introducing key instructional routines. During our first days together I aim to learn more about each of my students and where they are as a reader. They will pick books that are perfect for them. I will be text leveling each student throughout the first month of school. These one-on-one meetings help me to know where they are academically and also help me to learn more about each student's individual interests!
During science, we will spend so much time working together in groups. During the first days of school, we will focus on what a scientist does and how to work together in science class. We will do science team work activities and STEM challenges to set the stage of a successful year!
Let's get the ideas flowing! As we introduce our writing procedures, students will be given many opportunities to brainstorm ideas for upcoming writing pieces.
We will also take time to set up our writers notebook. Students will be given their first homework assignment on Thursday. They will need to bring their notebooks home to decorate with pictures and activities they love. -Due Monday!
Our first spelling list will be sent home on Friday, August 16th.
Please visit Mrs. McGregor's website for updates on math & social studies.
This week in art we will create and decorate encouraging messages to post in our hallway.
